Classmates

After the Senior Trip I attended North Texas, and lived for a while with renegades James Bee Williams, Dave Harris, and Freddy Ward. Graduated in 1962 following which, Duane Neill and I worked a couple of months with Quay Clark Sr. tearing out the Crane Bowling Alley. Duane and I joined the Navy, and Duane fared much better than I. When I went aboard the ship on which I chipped a lot of paint, standing guard at the top of the gangway was our Classmate Robert Taylor. Robert was in charge of all the electronic equipment on the ship. When not chipping, I spent a lot of time washing dishes. Training which comes in handy as a married man.

I worked 6 ½ years in Child Welfare and got my Masters in Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio in 1968. I worked 30 years for the VA. 24 years were in Big Spring.

My first wife, Laurie, died in 1999 and I married my present wife, Bonnie, a short time later. In 2000, I retired from the VA, and Bonnie and I moved to Puerto Vallarta Mexico where we lived for 2 1/2 years. We came back to Rusk State Hospital in East Texas where I worked for 3 years. And I also retired from the State.

We moved to San Angelo in 2006. This is a great place to live. I am working for myself, representing people in Social Security Hearings. While in Mexico I took sculpture lessons, and I spend a lot of time beating on rocks. This is a great time in my life.

Bonnie and I have two children each, and together we have 10 grandchildren. My daughter, Christy, is a Social Worker at Waco VA Hospital and my son, Chilton, is a Mac software writer in San Antonio. We also have a 20 year old grandson, Perry, who is a Navy Corpsman stationed with the Marines. He recently returned from Iraq.
