After graduation, I went to the University of Texas and played football for one year. I met my wife, Joy, there and we were married in January of 1960. I worked at a Western Auto store in Austin until 1970, then we moved to Taylor where I owned a Western Auto Associate Store for about 16 years. I sold cars for a few years then got my real estate license. I am now semi-retired and still living in Taylor. We have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. We are active in our church, deliver Meals-on-Wheels weekly, and work with two reading programs.
